Circumstances leading to the detention

Reports are that the woman, on her way to Nicaragua, was halted by Dominican authorities due to purported discrepancies in her documents.

Mayra Jiménez, who leads the Dominican Ministry for Women, shared insights indicating that confusion arose over the surname of the boy’s father, resulting in the woman’s detention.

According to reports, following her detainment, the woman claimed that the agent in question demanded she undresses in the cell.

Fearing for the safety of her son, who was asleep in the cell with her, she felt compelled to comply.

Prompt action and children’s welfare

In response to the woman’s account, prosecutors were quick to request an arrest warrant for the implicated agent.

Meanwhile, the National Migration Agency has confirmed that the child is presently under the government’s temporary care, ensuring his safety during this distressing period.
