Job boom in Trelawny: New Hotel offers employment to over 700 Jamaicans

A beacon of economic opportunity is poised to shine on Jamaica’s northern coast with the impending opening of the RIU Aquarelle Hotel in Trelawny. 

Scheduled to welcome guests starting May 4 next year, the luxurious property is gearing up to provide employment to over 700 locals, signifying a substantial boost to the community’s workforce.

Constructing luxury: Progress at the RIU Aquarelle Hotel

Currently, the hotel’s development is making substantial strides, with construction progress marked at about 60 per cent. 

According to Jamaican media reports, Francine Wright Acosta, the Manager of Construction and Administration with the RIU Group says the hotel promises a blend of modern amenities with 753 rooms upon completion.

RIU’s robust presence: A legacy of local employment in Jamaica

With a legacy stretching back 22 years and boasting six operational hotels, RIU has been a steadfast contributor to Jamaica’s hospitality industry and its workforce.

According to reports, the group’s commitment to local employment is strong, with historical data revealing that less than 0.5 per cent of its workforce has been sourced from outside Jamaica. 

This strategy stands as a testament to RIU’s dedication to empowering the Jamaican community and leveraging local talent.
