Caribbean Airlines has launched its highly anticipated Kingston–Fort Lauderdale route, marking another step in the airline’s mission to strengthen connections between the Caribbean and its Diaspora.
The inaugural flight departed on December 17, offering travelers three weekly services, with plans to increase frequency in early 2025 pending regulatory approval.
The reintroduced service responds directly to customer feedback, underscoring Caribbean Airlines’ commitment to putting passengers at the center of its operations.
Speaking at the launch, the airline’s CEO Garvin Medera emphasized the significance of the route:
“Caribbean Airlines takes pride in being a bridge for the Caribbean and its Diaspora. Fort Lauderdale is home to a vibrant Jamaican community, and this service reinforces our promise to bring the Caribbean closer, connecting families, friends, and businesses, while offering seamless travel for those in the Caribbean who view the Diaspora as an extension of home.”
This new route is part of the airline’s 2024 growth strategy, which also saw the addition of flights to Martinique, Guadeloupe, Tortola, and Puerto Rico. These expansions reestablished vital connections across the French, Dutch, Spanish, and English-speaking Caribbean, reflecting the airline’s broader mission to unite the region.
As part-owner of Caribbean Airlines, Jamaica remains central to the company’s operations and identity. Initiatives such as its partnership with the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), familiarization tours to promote the destination, and sponsorship of cultural events like Reggae Sumfest highlight the airline’s dedication to fostering shared Caribbean culture and history.
The Kingston–Fort Lauderdale route is more than a travel option—it’s an investment in strengthening ties with Jamaicans abroad. By seamlessly linking Kingston to South Florida, a key hub for the Jamaican Diaspora, the airline continues to support the region’s cultural and economic prosperity.
