Former U.S. President Barack Obama unveiled his highly anticipated list of favorite movies, books, and music for 2024 on social media Friday. Among the 25 songs featured on his music playlist is “Jump,” a collaboration by Jamaican artist Skillibeng, South African singer Tyla, and American rapper Gunna.
“Here are my favorite songs from this year! Check them out if you’re looking to shake up your playlist,” Obama wrote in his post, which has since sparked widespread buzz.
“Jump,” released on March 22 as part of Tyla’s self-titled debut album under Fax/Epic Records, has seen significant international success. It earned silver certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) on December 6, signifying over 200,000 units sold and streamed in the UK. The track has also achieved gold certification in Canada (40,000 units) and Brazil (20,000 units).
The song has charted globally, appearing on Billboard’s US Afrobeats Songs, World Digital Song Sales, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, and Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay. Internationally, it reached audiences in Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, Greece, Switzerland, and Nigeria, with its highest placement at #87 on the Canada Hot 100.
This marks Skillibeng’s second silver certification in the UK, following the success of his hit “Crocodile Teeth” in September.
Other notable entries on Obama’s playlist include Kendrick Lamar’s “Squabble Up,” Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ’Em,” Asake and Travis Scott’s “Active,” Billie Eilish’s “Lunch,” and Rema’s “YAYO.”
Obama previously featured “Jump” on his summer playlist alongside Bob Marley and the Wailers’ classic “Them Belly Full (But We Hungry),” underscoring the song’s enduring popularity throughout the year.
