The Florida Department of Education has released the Federal Graduation Rates for the 2023/24 school year, showing continued progress for Broward County Public Schools (BCPS).
The district’s overall graduation rate rose to 89%, up from 88.7% in 2023, reflecting a steady climb in student success.
The Federal Graduation Rate includes data from traditional high schools, centers, and charter schools. Among traditional high schools alone, BCPS saw an increase to 96.2%, up from 95.5% in the previous year.
Key achievements across the district include:
- High-performing schools: Thirty-four of 36 traditional high schools achieved graduation rates of 90% or higher. Notably, 24 of these schools reached rates at or above 95%, an improvement from 22 schools in 2023.
- Perfect scores: Seven schools achieved 100% graduation rates, including Atlantic Technical High School, Broward Virtual School, College Academy at Broward College, Lauderhill 6-12, McFatter Technical College, Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy, and Pompano Beach High School. College Academy at Broward College has now maintained its perfect rate for 13 consecutive years.
- Significant gains: Five high schools improved their graduation rates by three or more percentage points compared to the previous year. These schools are Boyd Anderson High School (up 5.1 points), Charles Flanagan High School (up 3.7 points), Coral Springs High School (up 3 points), Hollywood Hills High School (up 3 points), and South Plantation High School (up 3.1 points).
“Ensuring our students complete their high school education with the knowledge, tools and academic foundation to be successful in their post-secondary pursuits is critical,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn.
“Our School Board members and I are proud of our schools – our teachers, administrators and staff – for maintaining their focus on our students’ needs and helping our schools continue to raise graduation rates. The notable increases at many of our high schools are to be commended and celebrated.”
The district’s progress demonstrates its commitment to providing students with the support and resources they need to achieve academic success and prepare for their futures.
