Rapper Busta Rhymes accused of assault for punching man in the face in New York altercation

Rapper Busta Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith, has been accused of assault following an altercation in Brooklyn, New York, on January 10.

According to police, Rhymes is accused of repeatedly punching another man in the face. As a result, the rapper was issued a desk appearance ticket for third-degree assault, a misdemeanor charge, on Tuesday. Rhymes is expected to appear in court at a later date to address the charge.

Police responded to a 911 call in Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood on the evening of January 10, where a 50-year-old man reported being punched in the face multiple times during an argument with another man. The victim was taken to the hospital with swelling on the left side of his face. According to the Brooklyn district attorney’s office, Busta Rhymes, is scheduled to appear in court on February 3. No further details were provided by the district attorney’s office at this time.

Known for his fast-paced rapping style and energetic performances, Busta rose to prominence in the 1990s as a member of the hip-hop group Leaders of the New School. He later launched a successful solo career, releasing iconic tracks like “Break Ya Neck,” “Touch It,” and “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.”
