Valiant and Jquan shine at Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records’ Live Wire series debut

The Live Wire music series at Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records in Kingston hit all the right notes on Wednesday, January 29, showcasing the dynamic range of dancehall stars Valiant and Jquan.

The event, which prioritizes live music over typical track performances, gave fans an intimate look at the artists’ musical abilities.

Backed by the One Squad Band, both performers delivered electrifying sets that highlighted their developing vocal prowess and artistry. Opening the evening was rising star Tielo Lanes, who set the tone with a performance including his viral hit “Muk Truck,” igniting the crowd’s energy. “Muk Truck” a daring and controversial debut by the young performer has now amassed 826k views on YouTube and trended #1 for Jamaican TikTok.

Jquan followed with a high-energy performance that featured fan favorites such as “Done,” “Still a Fight,” and the dance routine stirring “Chakka.” Reflecting on the night’s success, Jquan shared, “We have to do shows like this to show the fans a different side of us. We really can manage musically, we can sing. So, I’d say this acoustic performance is a success.”

Valiant then took the stage, captivating the audience with a slew of hits delivered in a unique dub-infused acoustic style. His setlist included popular tracks like “Bubble Gum,” “Mad Out,” “Baddiedeh,” “Expensive,” and many more, each performed with a creative twist that resonated with the crowd.

“We give thanks for the support tonight, bless up everyone weh come through. This is a different style of dancehall, wid a little dub twist to just to keep it interesting so the fans don’t get bored” he shared.

The night’s standout performances demonstrated the versatility and depth of both artists, reaffirming their places in the evolving dancehall scene. The Live Wire Series continues to be a platform for artists to explore new creative dimensions.
