BVI Governor to announce plans to boost security

Governor of the British Virgin Islands, BVI, Augustus Jaspert says plans aimed at boosting the country’s national security will be announced this week.

In a recent statement, Jaspert said cabinet has forged plans to bolster national security through collaboration with Police Commissioner Michael Matthews and members of other local law enforcement agencies.

“These (plans) will be explained in detail next week,” Jaspert said in a media release last Friday.

He noted that re-establishing streetlights around the police station in the capital of Road Town, will be included in the plans.

“I am grateful for the UK’s support in funding extra electrical teams to support our efforts here. Security is everyone’s responsibility and we must all do our bit to keep the territory safe,” Jaspert added.
