Jamaicans Elaine Thompson and Stephanie Ann McPherson Win at Diamond League

PARIS, France – As the 2019 IAAF Doha World Championships draw closer, Jamaican athletes Elaine Thompson and Stephanie Ann McPherson are gearing up to secure gold in their respective events.

At the Diamond League in Paris this past weekend, both Thompson and McPherson scored wins in the women’s 100meter and 400meter, respectively.

Elaine Thompson, the Caribbean’s favorite in the 100m, dominated the field to win the event in 10.98 ahead of Ivory Coast’s world 100m and 200 silver medallist Marie-Jose Ta Lou, who clocked 11.13 and double world 200m champion Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands was third in 11.15.

Jamaican athlete Stephanie Ann McPherson won the womens 400m at the 2019 Paris Diamond League.

In the 400m, Stephanie Ann McPherson pulled off an upset from lane 7, to take home the event ahead of three American athletes, Kendall Ellis, 51.21, Shakima Wimbley, 51.50, and world champion Phyllis Francis, who clocked 51.56 for fourth place.

The Jamaicans now prepare to take home the gold and possibly new world records at the World Championships which begin in Doha, Qatar on September 28.
