The chain also began vaccinating daycare and preschool teachers on Wednesday, even though Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has not yet opened the vaccination program to them. Now for Caribbean News,

In Jamaica, The Ministry of Health and Wellness has been advised that Jamaica is now to receive its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, March 8th. Last week, health minister Dr. Chris Tufton had said the shots would arrive on the island yesterday. The vaccination of Jamaicans is expected to begin 48 hours after the arrival of the vaccines from India. Government officials, healthcare professionals and immigration workers are among those first in line for the shot. The government said it wants to vaccinate 65 percent of the population by March 2022.

And in St. Lucia, Jamaican hotelier, Gordon “Butch” Stewart will posthumously receive the country’s third-highest honour, the St Lucia Cross. The award celebrates the late Sandals Resorts founder for his contributions to the island’s economy. The award will be presented this Sunday, March 7 at a virtual ceremony in Castries. Prime Minister of St. Lucia, Allen Chastanet said Stewart is one of the main reasons why St. Lucia’s tourism is still surviving despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Stewart died on January 4th this year.
