Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce turned back all challengers to cop her 4th 100m title during the JAAA National Senior Championships at Kingston’s National Stadium a short while ago.
Fraser-Pryce led from start to finish to lead home the field in a smart 10.71 seconds (1.0 mps) ahead of Skerica Jackson in 10.82 seconds and defending Olympic Games 100m gold medallist Elaine Jackson-Herah in 10.84 seconds. Junior champion Briana Williams was fourth (11.01s) and now qualifies for her first Olympic Games.
In the men’s equivalent, Tyquendo Tracey upset Yohan Blake to win his second National title in 10.00 seconds (0.6 mps).
Blake was timed in 10.01 seconds and Oblique Seville finished in their heels in third place in 10.04 seconds, and personal best and within the Olympic qualifying standard.
Fraser-Pryce and Tracey will lead Jamaica’s sprint teams at the Tokyo Olympic Games, which will run from July 23 to August 8, 2021.
