Trinidad Police arrest persons who appeared in video with gun

Trinidad Police Wednesday said they had arrested four persons who were seen on a video circulating on social media brandishing a firearm.

The authorities said they had received a video clip, which showed a group of persons at a bar, where one individual was brandishing what appeared to be a firearm in central Trinidad.

The police said after conducting covert intelligence-led investigations, they executed search warrants at the homes of the four suspects where “one Glock pistol, fitted with a magazine containing ten rounds of nine-millimeter ammunition was seized”.

The police said the four suspects were arrested, while investigations into the video and the gun find are continuing. They said charges are expected to be laid against one of the suspects.

Trinidad and Tobago has so far this year registered more than 12 murders, most of which are gun-related. Last year, the country had a record number of 605 murders.
