Loop News- The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued red notices for a Guyanese couple wanted in connection with the murder of police officer, Quincy Lewis.
The wanted notice comes about a week after the Guyana Police Force issued local notices for Thakurdial Samaroo and Naqeeba Zahid Zafarali.
Police believe Samaroo and Zafarali have fled Guyana.
After two years of searching, skeletal remains, believed to be that of Lewis, was found buried in the Madewini Sandpit area on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
The discovery was made after police questioned Shafeek “Profit” Vernon and Jamel Van Lewis in connection with Lewis’ murder.
Vernon and Van Lewis appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court via Zoom on Monday charged with Lewis’ death between 18 June 2020 and 18 June 2021 at Providence, East Bank Demerara.
The duo was charged jointly with Samaroo,56 and Zafarali,33.
Vernon and Van Lewis are set to reappear in court on May 24.
