NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC – The Bahamas government has described as “completely untrue” social media reports that Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis had been rushed to hospital last week “after experiencing an above normal blood pressure reading”.
In a statement, the Office of the Prime Minister said that it wanted to distance itself from the “fake reports…circulating on social media” and wanted to assure citizens that Prime Minister Minnis “is in excellent health”.
It acknowledged that Minnis had visited the Princess Margaret Hospital last Wednesday “to be treated for a mild allergic reaction to something he ate the evening before. He was treated and released a short time later.
“The Office of the Prime Minister wishes to advise the Bahamian public that these reports are completely untrue. Prime Minister Minnis was not rushed to the hospital at any time as claimed in the false and misleading report,” the statement added.
