Jamaican Ambassador Audrey Marks to attend Donald Trump inauguration

Audrey Marks, Jamaica’s Ambassador to Washington, has accepted an invitation to participate in the 60th Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2025, marking Donald J. Trump’s return to the presidency alongside his running mate, Senator JD Vance.

Ambassador Marks will attend the swearing-in ceremonies at the U.S. Capitol, followed by an exclusive Diplomatic Corps Reception and parade viewing at the Blair House, the President’s official guest residence. The day will conclude with the Liberty Inaugural Ball at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, where the diplomatic community will witness the traditional first dance of the newly elected president and first lady.

The festivities will continue into January 21, with Ambassador Marks attending the National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral. This long-standing ceremony, dating back to George Washington’s presidency, serves as a spiritual conclusion to the inauguration celebrations.

In a statement, Ambassador Marks expressed her enthusiasm for working closely with the new Trump-Vance administration. She highlighted key areas of collaboration, including strengthening trade and investment opportunities, fostering energy partnerships, and enhancing security cooperation between Jamaica and the United States.

This will be the fourth U.S. Presidential inauguration Ambassador Marks has attended, having previously participated in the inaugurations of Obama/Biden, Trump/Pence, Biden/Harris, and now Trump/Vance. The ambassador noted that such events offer valuable opportunities for informal diplomatic exchanges with new administrations.
