Jamaican dancehall and reggae stars, including Jahshi, Mad Cobra, Ky-Mani Marley, and Laa Lee, graced the red carpet at the Miramar Cultural Center on Sunday for the premiere of Unbelievable, the latest film starring Spragga Benz.
Through his Instagram, Spragga expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, sharing photos of himself and his friends at the event. He even hinted at a potential collaboration with Bounty Killer, adding, “Yuh affi inna di nex one inuh bredda.”
Unbelievable is directed by Cleon A. James and produced by Top Notch Vision Films alongside Spragga Benz’s own Red Square Productions. The movie, shot in Florida, features a talented cast, including Merlisa Determined, Charmaine Fenton, and Supa Twitch, alongside Spragga himself, who plays the role of Chris.
The plot centers on Chris and his wife Faith, played by Charmaine Fenton, who are joyfully celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary when they receive news from a medical professional about a pregnancy treatment boasting a 98% success rate. The couple’s struggle with fertility becomes a focal point as their journey unfolds with both hope and heartbreak.
Chris is eventually thrilled to share news of Faith’s pregnancy with his friend, played by Supa Twitch, but tragedy strikes when Faith suffers her third miscarriage, an event she attributes to supplements Chris was taking. The devastating loss causes a rift between the couple, leading to Chris questioning the future of their marriage. In one scene, however, the couple is shown cradling a newborn, hinting at a possible reconciliation.
Spragga Benz’s career as an actor spans over two decades. He made his film debut in 2001 with Brooklyn Babylon and soon after took on a leading role alongside Ky-Mani Marley in the iconic Jamaican film Shottas. Most recently, he portrayed David in Second Chance (2022), expanding his reputation as a versatile actor in Jamaican cinema.
Following the Florida premiere, Unbelievable is set to reach wider audiences with future screenings in select theaters. With support from such a powerful roster of reggae and dancehall icons, Spragga’s latest work in Unbelievable is already generating significant buzz in the Caribbean and international film scenes.
