The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has stepped into the investigation following claims made by two American women, alleging they were drugged and sexually assaulted by two adult males while on a beach excursion in Grand Bahama island.
According to reports, the incident occurred last Sunday.
It was further reported that the two women believed the Royal Bahamas Police Force dropped the ball when initial complaints were made.
They claimed they had to plead for rape kits to be provided.
Royal Bahamas Police Force responds
In response to the allegations, the Royal Bahamas Police Force issued an official statement, countering the women’s claims.
According to the police, Emergency Medical Services offered medical assistance to the victims, which they declined. The women reportedly signed a waiver and left for their cruise ship in a private vehicle.
Efforts to address the gravity of the situation
The police force reported that officers boarded the cruise ship, provided a sexual assault kit, and handed over a hospital form to the ship’s medical personnel. Additionally, the police obtained signed statements from the victims, furthering their efforts to address the incident.
