Following the spillage in Trinidad & Tobago on February 7, Grenada has initiated its oil spill protocol as the hazard extends into its southern marine region.
Oil spill extends to Grenada’s waters
In a bulletin, Trinidad & Tobago’s Weather Centre said the oil has now spread out of T&T’s marine waters into Grenada’s southern marine area.
There are also concerns that the oil from the sunken barge could affect neighboring Venezuela.
Reports are that the Grenadian government is currently in contact with the Government of Trinidad & Tobago through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assess the impact the oil spill may have on Grenada.
