The Government of Guyana recently clarified that Monday, September 25, 2023, will not be observed as a national holiday.
The announcement was made to dispel the myths that had been spreading online.
Misinformation circulating online
A media release, which surfaced online, erroneously claimed the day would be celebrated nationwide due to Guyana’s historic CPL T20 cricket victory.
This release bore the masthead of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Official clarification by DPI
In response to the misleading information, the Department of Public Information (DPI) confirmed that the media release in question was fraudulent.
The Government of Guyana further corroborated that no such declaration for a National Holiday on September 25, 2023, was made.
