The JamaicaEye Programme received a substantial boost with the donation of 215 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras by the Government of the Republic of Korea.
During the handover ceremony held at his New Kingston offices on Tuesday, April 16, Minister of National Security, Hon. Dr. Horace Chang, emphasized the critical role of a comprehensive, integrated approach in achieving success in citizen security.
Highlighting the evolving landscape of law enforcement, he stressed the necessity of incorporating new technologies into the law-enforcement toolkit.

Dr. Chang underscored the digitization of policing operations as the cornerstone of 21st-century policing, emphasizing its multifaceted nature beyond the mere acquisition of modern equipment.
He emphasized the need for a strategic plan, collaborative partnerships, and unwavering political commitment to drive this transformation forward.

The integration of the donated CCTV cameras into a centralized system is poised to revolutionize law enforcement capabilities, providing real-time, high-quality footage for use in police investigations and supporting law enforcement efforts island-wide.

Expanding coverage for enhanced security
The JamaicaEye initiative, aimed at providing comprehensive coverage over major towns and highways in Jamaica, continues to expand its reach.
With over 800 cameras already installed and an additional 350 slated for installation in downtown Kingston and Olympic Way spaces, the initiative signifies a concerted effort toward bolstering public safety and law enforcement efforts nationwide.
