An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 rocked several islands in the Caribbean on Friday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the St. Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (IUWI) said the quake, which occurred at 7.23 a.m. was located 53 kilometers west of Pointe-a-Pitre in the French island of Guadeloupe.
It was felt at a depth of 177.3 km and was felt in the neighboring islands of Dominica, Montserrat, St. Kitts-Nevis as well as Antigua and Barbuda.
Two days ago, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 shook St. John’s, the capital of Antigua and Barbuda, Point-a Pitre in Guadeloupe, and Basseterre in St. Kitts.
There were also no reports of damage or injury.
