13 Miami-Dade Schools honored with Florida Purple Star Designation

Thirteen public schools in Miami-Dade County have earned the prestigious Florida Purple Star School of Distinction Designation, recognized for their exceptional efforts in supporting military families.

This marks the first time Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) has participated in the initiative, with all 13 schools meeting the program’s rigorous standards. The designation is valid for three school years.

  • Miami Southridge Senior High School
  • North Miami Beach Senior High School
  • Southwest Miami Senior High School

The Florida Legislature established the Purple Star designation in 2021 to recognize schools that demonstrate a commitment to addressing the unique challenges faced by military-connected students. The program emphasizes providing tailored resources and support to ensure smooth transitions for military families entering new school environments.

This recognition highlights the dedication of M-DCPS to fostering inclusive and supportive learning spaces for all students, including those with ties to the military community.
