Set against the backdrop of Art Basel Miami Beach 2023 and Miami Art Week 2023, this annual event is curated to delve into the nuances of contemporary African and African Diaspora art.

It will unite artists of African descent from across the globe, converging in Miami for a dynamic array of exhibitions, illuminating panel discussions, captivating performances, and thought-provoking film screenings.

Opa-locka, FL: The epicenter of artistic exploration

Ten North Group proudly presents “AFRICA GLOBAL” in the vibrant city of Opa-locka, Florida, running from December 3 to December 10, 2023.

With six mesmerizing exhibitions on display, attendees can immerse themselves in a world of artistic wonders. Highlights include captivating works from Puerto Rican artists, an awe-inspiring sculpture pavilion, a thought-provoking book installation dedicated to preserving Black literature, and a showcase of treasures from Ten North Group’s extensive collection of art hailing from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Diaspora.

Exploring transformative art: AFRICA GLOBAL Programming

The heart of “AFRICA GLOBAL” lies in its enriching programming, offering a holistic artistic experience for attendees.

  • Landscape Noir (Dec. 4): Engage in a captivating dialogue about how the arts can serve as a catalyst for rejuvenating marginalized communities.
  • Performance & Voguing Workshop (Dec. 8): Dive into the world of Afro-Caribbean artistry with a workshop led by the talented Edrimael Delgado Reyes.
  • Afro-Cuban Dance Extravaganza (Dec. 3): Be entranced by a mesmerizing Afro-Cuban dance performance, courtesy of the Ife-Ile Dance Company.
  • Curator’s Insights and Cinematic Exploration (Dec. 9): Join curator Tumelo Mosaka in a stimulating panel discussion followed by an evocative film screening by artist Marrero Sanchez. The film delves into themes of grief, identity, colonialism, and gender.
