The City of Hollywood kicked off its 100th year celebration with a wonderful gathering of community members and city officials.
This milestone in the City of Hollywood is not just a reflection of time, but a tribute to the resilience, vision, and dedication of the countless individuals who have shaped this city. A century ago, Hollywood was just one square mile of farmland, founded by the visionary Joseph Wesley Young. Through his leadership and the hard work of the pioneers, dreamers, and innovators, the foundation was laid for the thriving city it is today.
Broward County Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis says she is proud to be a part of such a special celebration “As the Commissioner representing District 7, I am especially proud to be a part of this significant milestone. The heart of our district is intertwined with Hollywood, and I look forward to the many celebrations, festivities, and reflections on the accomplishments that have brought us to this moment”, she stated
“Looking ahead, I encourage everyone in District 7—and beyond—to participate in the special activities throughout 2025 that will mark this historic year. From community gatherings to cultural events, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Let’s celebrate the past, the present, and the future of Hollywood”, expressed Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis.
The city council says this centennial celebration is a time for reflection, but also for renewal. It is a reminder that while the landscape will continue to change, the heart of Hollywood remains steadfast in its commitment to community, connection, and progress.
All are invited and encouraged to attend any or all of the special centennial activities planned throughout 2025. For more information on the City of Hollywood Centennial, visit: https://www.hollywoodfl.org/
