The Consulate General of Jamaica, Miami, will host the Second Annual Jamaica Brew Festival on Saturday, January 18, at the Miramar Cultural Center, 2300 City Center Place, Miramar, FL.
This one-day cultural celebration, beginning at 10:00 a.m., will showcase Jamaican literature, cinema, and coffee in a vibrant tribute to the nation’s rich heritage.
The festival will feature book readings and signings by notable authors and poets, screenings of short films by Jamaican filmmakers, and tastings of Jamaica’s world-renowned coffee, including the celebrated Blue Mountain blend. The event is organized in collaboration with Miramar Commissioner Winston Barnes and will be hosted by Consul General Oliver Mair, a thespian who envisions the festival as a growing staple in the community calendar.
“This historic event celebrates Jamaica’s literary and cinematic talent while supporting our local coffee industry,” said Consul General Mair. “It’s a perfect fusion of culture and flavor that highlights Brand Jamaica.”
Renowned participants include Dr. Julius Garvey, son of National Hero Marcus Garvey; poet and motivational speaker Kwame McPherson; acclaimed writer and poet Dr. Kei Miller; and local dub poet Malachi Smith. Additional contributors include Judith Falloon-Reid, Dr. Susan “dr. sue” Davis, and literary awards winner Geoffrey Philp.
The festival will also feature a special children’s segment where authors Nadine Brady-Taylor and Colleen Wint Bond will present their works in interactive recitals with young readers.
The event will culminate with a showcase of short films by six Jamaican filmmakers, capturing the essence of Jamaican culture and storytelling.
Coffee aficionados can explore a display of brewing techniques, recipes, and tastings organized in partnership with the Jamaica Coffee Exporters Association and the Jamaica Coffee Growers Association. The event also acknowledges Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Day, celebrated a week before, on January 9th. “This is an excellent opportunity to build awareness of Jamaica’s world-class coffee,” said Norman Grant, Chairman of the Jamaica Coffee Exporters Association.
Admission to the Jamaica Brew Festival is free, and attendees are encouraged to register at jamaicabrew2025.eventbrite.com. Patrons will have the chance to engage with authors, enjoy book signings, and experience a unique blend of literature, film, and coffee.
