Messi’s double strike seals 3-1 victory for Inter Miami over Orlando City

Lionel Messi has once again done it for Inter Miami, scoring two goals which resulted in a triumphant 3-1 victory over Orlando City on Wednesday.

The football superstar has brought his tally to five goals in his first three games since his highly awaited MLS debut on July 21.

“Something I said early on when we started, with him the most difficult things have become easier,” Inter Miami coach Tata Martino said. “But we are talking about a player that at the highest level of competition scores 40 goals a season.”

Messi’s unwavering goal scoring streak

Despite an unanticipated 95-minute delay due to thunderstorms, the Leagues Cup Round of 32 match saw Messi showcase his goal-scoring prowess early, just seven minutes into the match . He also made a second goal in the 72nd minute.

Inter Miami’s goals

In a display of his unrivaled skill, Messi adeptly controlled a pass from Robert Taylor on his chest, dribbled a few yards near the edge of the 6-yard box, and expertly sent a shot sailing under the crossbar, leaving the Orlando City defense in his wake.

This early strike gave Inter Miami a 1-0 advantage, before Orlando City managed to level the scores 11 minutes later.

Josef Martinez added one more goal from the penalty spot and Messi got another goal putting Inter Miami at 3-1.

Inter Miami coach praise Messi’s performance

Martino pointed out Messi’s ability to diversify his scoring angles and situations, as seen in his second goal of the match, impressively executed with his right foot – a departure from the legendary left foot that fans across the globe have come to revere.

Martino also reiterated Messi’s commitment to his new team, stating, “He’s been doing the same for 17-18 years.”

“He said he was coming here to compete and win. He is fulfilling what he said.”
