Miami-Dade to host 3rd Annual Hometown Heroes Parade and Festival

MIAMI-DADE – The 3rd Annual Hometown Heroes Parade and Festival will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40th Street, Miami, FL 33155. This highly anticipated event honors the brave men and women who serve and protect their community with courage and dedication

This year’s Grand Marshal will be Enrique Santos, local radio personality, community leader, and advocate. As a beloved figure in Miami-Dade, Santos has consistently used his platform to uplift our local law enforcement heroes and promote positive change.

This year’s ceremony will introduce a new recognition titled the Cesar “Echy” Echaverry Hero’s Award, named in memory of Detective Cesar “Echy” Echaverry, a beloved Miami-Dade Police Department detective who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in 2022. The inaugural award will be presented to Detective Echaverry’s family in recognition of his extraordinary service and ultimate sacrifice.

Going forward, the Cesar “Echy” Echaverry Hero’s Award will be bestowed annually to a local hero who has demonstrated exceptional courage and commitment in their line of work. The award will serve as a lasting tribute to Detective Echaverry’s legacy and highlights the profound impact that public servants have on the safety and well-being of our community.

“This parade and festival are more than just a celebration; they are a way for us to come together as a community and honor those who work tirelessly to keep us safe,” said Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins. “It is particularly meaningful this year as we introduce the Cesar “Echy” Echaverry Hero’s Award, ensuring that Detective Echaverry’s courage and sacrifice are never forgotten. This event is about celebrating our heroes, recognizing their contributions, and showing our gratitude for the sacrifices they make every day.”
