Miami Marathon to bring road closures in several areas this weekend

The annual Life Time Miami Marathon is set to return this Sunday, with more than 18,000 runners expected to take part. The 2025 event marks the marathon’s 23rd edition, with participants making their way through the streets of Miami and Miami Beach. The full marathon spans 26.2 miles, beginning at the Kaseya Center in Downtown Miami and finishing near Bayfront Park.

Drivers should be prepared for significant street closures and traffic rerouting:

  • Friday, Jan. 31st, at 10:00 a.m.: The northbound lanes of Biscayne Boulevard will be closed between Southeast 2nd Street and Northeast 2nd Street. A counter-flow will be implemented, and all traffic entering Biscayne Boulevard at Chopin Plaza will be rerouted to the southbound lanes at Southeast 1st Street to Northeast 2nd Street, where normal traffic flow will resume.
  • Saturday, Feb. 1st, at 8:00 a.m.: All northbound traffic entering Biscayne Boulevard at Chopin Plaza will be rerouted westbound on Southeast 2nd Street. Southbound traffic will be detoured at Northeast 1st Street and may continue south via Southeast 2nd Avenue. There will be no vehicle access on Biscayne Boulevard from Southeast 1st Street to Northeast 1st Street.
  • Sunday, Feb. 2nd, at 5:00 a.m.: Road closures citywide will begin for the event and will reopen at approximately 2:00 p.m. All closures, except for the Biscayne Boulevard counter-flow, will be lifted. The Biscayne Boulevard counter-flow is expected to be cleared by approximately 5:00 p.m.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead and expect delays in the affected areas. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes if traveling near the marathon course. City of Miami Police officers and personnel will be stationed along the closure points to assist with any inquiries and ensure smooth traffic flow where possible.
