Miami Gardens, FL – The City of Miami Gardens has appointed Councilmember Robert Stephens as its new Vice Mayor, effective December 9, 2024. Councilmember Stephens, who has served the city with dedication and vision since 2020, was unanimously selected by his colleagues to take on this esteemed role.
As Vice Mayor, Robert Stephens will bring his proven leadership, passion for community development, and innovative approach to advancing the city’s mission of serving its residents and fostering growth. Known for his commitment to advocating for underserved communities, youth empowerment, and economic development, Vice Mayor Stephens is poised to continue his transformative work in this new capacity.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to serve as Vice Mayor of the City of Miami Gardens,” said Stephens. “This city is my home, and I am committed to working with my colleagues, staff, and the community to ensure Miami Gardens remains a vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous place for all its residents.”
Since joining the Miami Gardens City Council, Vice Mayor Stephens has championed initiatives that include the City University Partnership, youth engagement programs, and economic accountability plans for corporations operating within the city. His leadership has been instrumental in fostering collaboration between public and private sectors to enhance the quality of life for residents.
In addition to his role as a Councilmember, Vice Mayor Stephens serves as Senior Pastor at Logos Baptist Church, further exemplifying his dedication to community and service. His extensive background in nonprofit leadership, family advocacy, and strategic planning uniquely positions him to make a meaningful impact in this expanded role.
