St. Kitts and Nevis PM meets with King Charles III

St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew met with His Majesty King Charles III on Friday, January 24, at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, the private country retreat to the king and Queen Camilla.

The bilateral meeting focused on key issues of mutual interest, including sustainability, environmental stewardship, youth advocacy, and education.

In a statement shared on social media, Prime Minister Drew highlighted the productive nature of the discussion. “His Majesty’s passion for advancing all of the discussed issues is evident. We pledged to continue working together for a better and more sustainable world. I wish him and his family well,” he wrote.

The meeting marked a significant milestone as it was the first time during King Charles III’s reign that he hosted a foreign official at Sandringham House rather than the traditional venues of Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.

Prime Minister Drew expressed enthusiasm for enhancing the partnership between St. Kitts and Nevis and the United Kingdom, emphasizing the importance of collective action on international challenges.

The visit coincided with Prime Minister Drew’s attendance at a high-profile dialogue in London from January 20 to 22 on the future of Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programs. During the event, leaders from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) discussed the integrity, sustainability, and strategic vision of CBI initiatives across the region.

Longstanding diplomatic ties between St. Kitts and UK

St. Kitts and Nevis and the United Kingdom share a robust diplomatic relationship, with the UK maintaining an embassy in the Federation and St. Kitts and Nevis operating a high commission in London. These missions play a pivotal role in fostering cooperation on trade, security, and cultural exchange while addressing the concerns of citizens residing in both nations.

Both countries remain committed to strengthening bilateral relations and advancing shared goals, ensuring a prosperous future for their citizens and the broader global community.
