Jamaican winger Kaheim Dixon has officially completed his move to Charlton Athletic, signing a four-year contract with the League One club.
Dixon, who was unveiled on Friday, will wear the number 13 jersey for the London-based team, continuing a tradition from his days at Clarendon College.
Dixon, who scored 32 goals and provided 17 assists in his final season of schoolboy football, made a name for himself at Jamaica Premier League (JPL) club Arnett Gardens before earning a call-up to the senior Reggae Boyz squad. His move to Charlton Athletic was facilitated through the club’s partnership with Mount Pleasant Football Academy, and the transfer was secured for an undisclosed fee.
Happy to be here
Charlton Athletic’s connection to Jamaican football has grown stronger in recent years. Dixon’s Reggae Boyz teammate Karoy Anderson is already part of the squad, while another Jamaican international, Michael Hector, was a member of the team until his contract expired recently.
Dixon, who has two goals in eight appearances for the Jamaican national team, expressed his excitement about joining Charlton Athletic. “I’m very happy to be here. My first opportunity to go professional is to be at the Addicks. It’s been very good to see Karoy [Anderson], another teammate from my country. I can’t wait to start playing with him,” he said.
Charlton Athletic has started the League One season in fine form, winning their first two matches against Wigan Athletic and Leyton Orient, placing them fourth in the standings. The team will host Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, where Dixon could potentially make his debut appearance for the club.
