Reggae Boyz hopeful Michail Antonio fired Westham into 5th place of the English Premiere League soccer with a brace on Monday.
The bustling center forward returning from four weeks on the sideline due to injury powered his time in a come from behind victory against Burnley at Turfmore. Burnley took the lead early scoring from the penalty spot before Antonio responded two minutes later with header from four yards out in the 21st minute.
Antonio would give his team the lead eight minutes later with a well-timed run on to a cross in the six yard box by teammate Saïd Benrahma.
Antonio, who pledged his allegiance to the Jamaica national team, is expected to join the Reggae Boyz over the summer for the Gold Cup competition and be available for the world cup qualifiers later this year.
Earlier on Saturday, May 1st, Brentford Ivan Toney who is eligible to represent Jamaica scored a 60-minute penalty against Watford to secure a 2-0 win. The victory maintains Brentford’s hope to qualify from the Championship to the Premier League. It was also Ivan‘s 30th goal of the season which makes him tied for the most goal in The English Championship history with Glen Murray.
With Brentford having one game remaining in the regular season and the Championship promotion playoff Ivan may well become the all-time leading scorer in the English Championship League.
