Jamaica is slated to host the 42nd Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s (CHTA) Caribbean Travel Marketplace.
The event is set to run from May 20-22, 2024, according to a recent announcement by the CHTA. The Montego Bay Convention Center has been selected as the venue for the upcoming event.
The last time Jamaica hosted this event was just before the global onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019.
The CHTA’s premier gathering, the Caribbean Travel Marketplace is an event where Caribbean tourism products and services are exchanged between buyers and sellers.
From Barbados to Jamaica: Continuing the success of the Marketplace
CHTA President Nicola Madden-Greig expressed her delight at Jamaica’s role in carrying forward the momentum from the successful Marketplace held earlier in Barbados.
“We at CHTA are delighted that Jamaica is building on the enormous success of our Marketplace this year in Barbados because it is where deals are made, allowing new and established buyers from all corners of the world to access a rich offering of travel products and experiences throughout the Caribbean,” she said.
Madden-Greig underlined the marketplace as the hub for industry players to “meet, collaborate, strategize and get smarter about how best to share the Caribbean experience with visitors from around the world.”

New enhancements to the 42nd Caribbean Travel Marketplace
The 42nd edition of the marketplace is expected to introduce new elements to enhance the overall experience, elements that Madden-Greig compared to those of the Caribbean Travel Forum & Awards.
The Forum is scheduled to kick off on Monday, May 20, just before the official start of the Marketplace.
The agenda is expected to feature insights from thought leaders and experts across various destinations and organizations, focusing on the business aspect of tourism.
Jamaica’s Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett seized the opportunity to highlight the resilience of the Caribbean tourism sector, noting that the Marketplace will “show the world how the Caribbean tourism sector’s resilience has made our destination secure and safe for locals and visitors alike.”
Bartlett views Jamaica’s hosting of the regional event as timely and in sync with the country’s growth trajectory. He believes the event will “add greatly to our tourism suppliers and buyers and ultimately create strong partnerships moving forward.”
He also sees potential for “multi-destination opportunities for participants who may want to have different experiences over the period.”
