Jamaica is experiencing a surge in high-end tourism, with 18 private jets landing in Montego Bay on a single day last week, according to Delano Seiveright, Senior Advisor and Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism.
The island’s appeal as a luxury destination continues to draw global celebrities, politicians, and business tycoons, all eager to soak up Jamaica’s vibrant culture and world-class hospitality.
From upscale villas to rustic retreats, Jamaica has hosted stars like Idris Elba and Young Miami, who have shared glimpses of their vacations online. While Seiveright refrained from naming other high-profile visitors for confidentiality reasons, he emphasized the steady growth of Jamaica’s luxury tourism market.

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett praised the country’s resilience and recovery, describing it as “one of the most extraordinary recoveries in global tourism history.”
He noted: “Jamaica’s tourism story is one of remarkable resilience and triumph. From the unprecedented challenge of the pandemic, when our industry ground to a complete halt, we’ve orchestrated one of the most extraordinary recoveries in global tourism history. This achievement reflects the strength of our people, the innovation within the sector, and the enduring allure of Brand Jamaica.”
Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street draws global attention
Adding to the excitement is the much-anticipated Freedom Street concert, headlined by dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel on December 31. Billed as one of the largest events in Jamaica’s history, Kartel is promising a spectacle akin to an NFL Super Bowl halftime show.
“It’s giving Madonna energy, it’s giving world-class because it’s a full four-corner, almost 360-degree stage vibe. The lighting, the sound, the lasers, the surprises—it’s going to be like an NFL Super Bowl halftime show 2.0. Trust me, it’s an experience you don’t want to miss. It will make Taylor Swift jealous,” Kartel said, referencing the pop star’s recently concluded Eras tour.
Joe Bogdanovich, CEO of Downsound Entertainment, added with humor: “Who knows? It might even attract her to be here.”
The concert, which celebrates Kartel’s release from prison after a 13-year incarceration, boasts an extraordinary lineup of performers.
Alongside Kartel, the stage will feature dancehall artists Bounty Killer, Masicka, Spice, Skillibeng, Chronic Law, Rvssian, Popcaan, Tommy Lee Sparta, Lisa Hyper, Gaza Indu, Sheba, Jah Vinci, Shawn Storm, and Kartel’s sons, Likkle Vybz and Likkle Addi.
Additionally, international stars like African sensation Shatta Wale and American rap legend Busta Rhymes are set to perform. Kartel has also teased guest appearances by “a popular artist from Canada” and a renowned “female rapper.”
