Royal Caribbean welcomes Icon of the Seas: The world’s largest cruise ship

In a historic ceremony that took place on Monday, Royal Caribbean, the renowned cruise giant, proudly accepted the delivery of the Icon of the Seas, cementing its position as the owner of the world’s largest cruise ship.

This vessel, boasting an astounding 20 decks, weighs in at a staggering 250,800 tons, making it more than 6 per cent larger and approximately 10 feet longer than the Wonder of the Seas, according to a recent press release by Royal Caribbean.

After a 900-day construction period, the Icon of the Seas is now poised to embark on its maiden voyage, scheduled to set sail from PortMiami on January 27, 2024.

Unveiling a world of experiences

The Icon of the Seas promises a grand adventure like no other, featuring an array of experiences across its expansive decks.

For the 7,600 passengers fortunate enough to board this floating marvel, the ship offers an extraordinary array of diversions.

With eight distinct neighborhoods to explore, seven pools to take a dip in, six record-breaking waterslides to conquer, and a dazzling selection of approximately 40 bars and dining establishments to choose from, passengers are bound to be spoiled for choice.

Jason Liberty, the President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, remarked, “We are celebrating more than a new ship; it’s also the celebration of the culmination of more than 50 years of innovation and dreaming at Royal Caribbean to create the ultimate vacation experience.”
