St. Kitts and Nevis has experienced a surge in air arrivals this holiday season, marking a significant milestone in the Federation’s tourism recovery.
From December 14 to 25, 2024, the twin-island nation welcomed 8,335 passengers across 265 flights, making it the highest number of air arrivals recorded during this period in recent years.
This 2024 total exceeds previous holiday season arrivals, surpassing the 7,492 passengers recorded in 2023, 6,334 in 2022, and 2,937 in 2021. Notably, the 2024 figures also show a strong recovery compared to pre-pandemic levels, surpassing the 7,813 passengers recorded in 2017 and outpacing 2018 and 2019 arrivals, which stood at 7,773 and 8,069, respectively.
The boost in arrivals is attributed to the combined appeal of St. Kitts and Nevis’ holiday offerings, including vibrant Christmas celebrations and the highly anticipated Sugar Mas Carnival. Visitors have been drawn to the Federation’s cultural festivities, including lively street parades, calypso competitions, and traditional folklore performances, making it a premier holiday destination.
Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Marsha Henderson, expressed pride in the Federation’s tourism performance, stating, “This growth reflects the resilience and allure of St. Kitts and Nevis as a leading Caribbean destination. Our unique blend of cultural celebrations, natural beauty, and warm hospitality continues to attract visitors and returning nationals alike.”
In collaboration with key stakeholders, the Ministry of Tourism has worked to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for travelers. Enhanced operations at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport have contributed to the Federation’s ability to accommodate the increased volume of passengers efficiently.
With Carnival season still in full swing, Minister Henderson added, “We are excited to continue offering unforgettable experiences to all our visitors as we celebrate this festive time.”
